From the answers that I have gained, I have found out what is needed to represent the genre of the movie and the main conventions of a thriller and how they are needed to create a thriller trailer. I have also found out what is needed to entice the audience by the posters and the magazine cover. I now know that good advertising is needed to promote the movie, therefore my magazine and poster should be at the best standard.
The secondary audience research has showed me that 73% of males read Empire, a film magazine, which shows me that I might need to target at a more male audience than females as more men might like these types of film magazines than women. One of our inspiration trailers, Lawless has also a more male audience than women, our other inspirational trailer, Unknown also has a more male audience, this would mean that maybe our trailer would need to be more targeted at male audiences than females in order to be effective. The secondary research has also showed me that 15-24 predominantly watched Lawless and Unknown, therefore I will tailor my trailer to entice the same age group.
Conducting the primary audience research was especially helpful as we got real reactions from people we know asking our questions. We made them look at a trailer of Lawless, a poster of Seven and a magazine with James bond on the front cover. They gave us responses that will help tailor our trailer, magazine and poster.
